Distinguished Achievement Award Ceremony set for Tuesday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas-Seven Dwight Look College of Engineering faculty and staff members are among the 24 recipients of the 2008 Distinguished Achievement Awards, which are presented annually by Texas A&M University and The Association of Former Students.

For teaching: Dr. Leland Carlson, professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering; Dr. John Valasek, associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering; Dr. Luciana R. Barroso, associate professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering; Dr. Behbood B. Zoghi, professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution; and Dr. Jerald A. Caton, the Thomas A. Dietz '31 Professor in Mechanical Engineering.

Frank D. Cervantez, a laboratory manager in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, is being honored in the staff category.

Dr. John L. Junkins, Distinguished Professor and the Royce E. Wisenbaker Chair in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, is being honored for his work in graduate student mentoring.

The awards will be formally presented Tuesday (April 29) at 1:30 p.m. in Rudder Theater. Each honoree will receive a $4,000 check, an engraved watch and a commemorative plaque. For more information about the awards, contact Kelli Hutka at The Association of Former Students at (979) 458-7506.
